Luca was born with an incredibly rare and complex syndrome, Complete DiGeorge Syndrome. Because of this he lacks an immune system and had to undergo a thymus transplant. After almost a year he is finally home and lives in isolation until his transplant is producing T cells. He has had many surgeries and procedures helping to combat the issues of his syndrome and only comes back stronger each time.
