While there are less than 30 cases of Gavin’s deletion and duplication in isolation, he is the only recorded case in the world with his particular duplication and deletion together. Because of the lack of data and unknowns, this has made care a challenge. He has had many issues, including failure to thrive, feeding difficulties, hearing loss, severe constipation, is nonverbal, and unable to walk unassisted.
