Austin was born 5 weeks premature and right away he was on the doctor’s “radar” because many things about our son’s health raised red flags. His irregular hair pattern, a brain bleed, the length of some of his limbs, a submucosal cleft, low tone and the most concerning was that he did not protect his airway and he was aspirating. After many, many tests, Austin was diagnosed with Pallister-Killian Syndrome (PKS) at 5 weeks of age. Shortly thereafter he had surgery to insert a g-tube for feeding and he was finally able to come home to us after being in the hospital for 42 days. The early days were quite scary and filled with fear of the unknown, but since then……Austin has made so many great strides with walking, his super cute personality, hilarious belly-aching laugh and the unconditional love and joy he brings to our lives. No matter what kind of day we have, Austin is always a source of light and he brings so many smiles to all who he encounters. Thank you so much for including him/us in the amazing act of love by sharing Christmas pajamas with Austin and so many wonderful kiddos.
