Emily is a senior in high school who enjoys young adult love and mystery books, adaptive alpine bi-skiing, making pottery, painting and traveling. Emily’s underlying condition is called SCN2A. As a result of a genetic change on her SCN2A gene, Emily struggles with intractable seizures, dysautonomia, dystonia, and is non- verbal and non-ambulatory. But her love for art and odd sense of humor over shine all of the challenges she faces each day.
