Ashtyn was 5 1/2 months old when i took her to see the pediatrician. My husband and I thought she had bronchitis. At the clinic they discovered her oxygen was only 40%. We went from the clinic, to the hospital and transferred to a bigger hospital. At the 2nd hospital, it was a day later and the icu dr noticed Ashtyn had a hole in her heart. She went into cardiac arrest and were able to save her, we were then transferred to a children’s hospital. While we waited to have open heart surgery, they did a gene test. They discovered she has 1q21.1 duplication and then also retinitis pigmentosa.
